It’s funny how the simple things can matter the most in sport. Swimming nose clips are small, hardly noticeable pieces of kit, but they can make all the difference when racing in the pool. While stamina and techniques are huge elements in becoming a top swimmer, breathing, and more specifically correct and timely breathing, has a large bearing on speed. Swimmers can block out the water where they don’t want it – the nose – and focus on the timing and rhythm of their breathing through the mouth with swimming nose clips. This is particularly helpful when performing backstroke, freestyle or butterfly.
